Pauline Hanuise & Robert Popper

Emotions in art are closely linked to our brains, generating unique and personal reactions. Art, whether visual or auditory, elicits varied emotional responses, such as joy or sadness, and serves as a vehicle for social or political messages. It acts as a mirror of human emotions, allowing viewers to better understand themselves through the works. Neuroscience studies these reactions, revealing how art stimulates our capacity for observation and analysis. Abstract shapes, in particular, encourage imagination by eliciting unconscious emotional responses. Contact with elements like colour and sound enriches our human experience.

The brain is also influenced by “cultural circuits” acquired during childhood and adolescence. These experiences shape a unique artistic sensibility, serving as a filter for all future aesthetic interactions. Each individual, therefore, perceives art through their references, which opens the way for authentic reflections. By celebrating emerging artists and their creativity, we explore original artistic expressions that expand our emotional and aesthetic horizons.

Robert Popper was born in Geneva, Switzerland in 1971, where love and passion for photography started in childhood, inspired by his grandmother’s photography and love of art. His exposure to creativity and this medium at a young age has led him to express his imagination and capture moments of life, beauty, and chaos via film or digital photography. His everlasting love for portraiture has developed over the years, leading him to press the shutter to encapsulate flowers and their natural beauty by manipulating artificial light. Having lived in London for eight years, Robert honed his photography skills in the city which led him to be published by Photo Magazine, a renowned French photography publishing magazine. His work was featured as a result of the biggest photo competition, held by the magazine in 2020 and 2023. Robert’s artworks have also crossed media boundaries by being sold at Sotheby’s auctions several times, demonstrating his versatility and adaptability. He is now based in the Algarve, Portugal, acquiring inspiration from the surrounding beauty working in nature and from his studio.

Born and raised in Belgium, Pauline is a self-taught, intuitive artist, a coach, teacher, and digital entrepreneur. Pauline has painted and created for as long as she can remember – starting with a fashion collection for her and her dolls, made entirely of different types of plastic bags when she was 6. Like many, she has been told art should stay a hobby. That’s how she ended up scoring 2 master’s degrees. The first one is in communication and the second is in business management.

Refusing to settle for the status quo, she left Europe at 26 to live and work in Sydney as a Digital Producer for many big brands such as Walt Disney and Canon. During her time in Australia, she joined the local art school and started exhibiting her work around Sydney (2011). At that time, her work was still pretty dark and tortured, which was a reflection of her lifetime struggles with addictions, eating disorders and body image.

Over the years, as she healed herself, and found more inner peace through spirituality, inner work, and yoga (and as she followed different training programs in fluid and contemporary art), her work evolved to become more colourful and spontaneous. Today, her art is a reflection of the flow of life, the universal energy of creation, love and light. She worked and lived in different countries till 2022. She is currently living and working in Portugal.
