Fátima Sardinha, born in Faro in 1975, discovered her passion for painting at a young age, creating her first oil painting at 14. Now based in Póvoa de Varzim, she leads a dual life—balancing academic rigor, with a PhD in Child Studies, alongside the free-spirited world of her artistic practice. For Sardinha, painting is not just an art form; it is a deeply personal means of expression, transcending words to explore themes of emotion, memory, and the nuances of daily life.
Her work is renowned for its expressive energy, characterized by impasto techniques and the use of bold, luminous colors applied with a palette knife on large canvases. These tactile compositions capture fleeting moments and emotional states, transforming life’s complexities into visual poetry. Sardinha’s creative process is guided by intuition and chance, allowing her to experience both catharsis and liberation, offering balance and introspection in the midst of modern life’s challenges.
Returning to painting in 2018 after a period of burnout, Sardinha has exhibited her works at prestigious events like the Beijing International Art Biennale and the Gaia International Art Biennale. She is also the founder of the Screamingart Group, which promotes art therapy and artistic connection across the globe.
